Draft pending legal review

This policy is a draft that Angom's legal counsel is reviewing. The approved text will replace it on this page.

Who we are

Angom Car Rental Company (شركة أنجم لتأجير السيارات), commercial registration (unified national number) 7034825716, VAT number 311642063100003, national address: Building 3972, Alrida St, Al Nahdah Dist., Riyadh 13221, Secondary No. 7211, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. We are responsible for the personal data described here under the Saudi Personal Data Protection Law (PDPL).

This policy covers the Angom app for iPhone and Android and this website.

What we collect

We collect only what we need to rent you a car:

  • Account: your name, mobile number, email address (optional) and language. If you sign in with Apple or Google, the account identifier they give us.
  • Identity and driving licence: to check that you may rent a car: your national ID, iqama or passport and your driving licence (numbers, expiry dates and the photos you take in the app), and your residency type (citizen, resident or visitor).
  • Bookings: the dates, the car, how you pick it up and return it (branch, delivery address, airport or train station), extras, insurance, your signed rental contract, the photos taken at pick-up and return, and any accident report you make (photos, location and Najm report number).
  • Location: only when you choose a delivery point on the map or report an accident, and only while you do it. The app never tracks your location in the background.
  • Payments: the amount, how you paid (mada, card, Apple Pay or cash) and the status. We never receive or store your card number.
  • Device and app: the notification token that lets us send you notifications, the app version, and crash reports that help us fix problems. No advertising identifiers and no tracking across other apps or websites.
  • Messages to us: what you send when you email us or chat with us on WhatsApp.

Why we use it

To create your account and keep it secure (sign-in with a one-time code by SMS); verify your identity and driving licence; take and manage your bookings; prepare your rental contract and receipts; record the payments you make when you receive the car, and make refunds; handle handovers, accidents and traffic violations during a rental; send you booking updates by SMS and app notification; answer your messages; and meet our legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal data and do not use it for advertising.

Payments

Nothing is paid in the app. You pay when you receive the car, at delivery or at the branch: mada, card or Apple Pay on our card machine, or cash. The card machine's bank processes card payments; Angom never receives or stores your card number.

If we add online payment to the app later, we will update this policy before it starts. Card details would then be entered only in the secure form of a licensed payment gateway and never stored by Angom.

Who we share it with

Only with the providers that run the service for us, and only what each needs: our hosting provider in Saudi Arabia, the SMS provider that sends your sign-in codes and booking messages, Google Firebase for app notifications, Sentry for crash and error reports (we remove your mobile number, sign-in codes and document details from them before they are sent), Google Maps to show the map when you choose a delivery point, and Apple or Google when you sign in with them. And with authorities where the law requires it, for example for traffic violations or Najm accident reports.

We do not send automated WhatsApp messages. A WhatsApp chat with us is one you start from our WhatsApp link, and WhatsApp's own privacy policy applies to it.

Where it is stored

Your account, documents, bookings and contracts are stored on servers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in line with the PDPL. Google Firebase (notifications), Sentry (crash and error reports) and Google Maps may handle the limited technical data they need outside the Kingdom, such as the notification token, an error report with your personal details removed, or the map area you look at.

How long we keep it

While your account is open. You can delete your account once you have no upcoming or active booking (finish or cancel it first). When you do, we delete your identity and licence documents and remove your name, mobile number and email from our records straight away.

Booking, payment and contract records are kept for up to 10 years, as Saudi commercial and tax rules require, with your name, mobile number and email removed. Deleted data leaves our backups within 30 days.

Your rights and deleting your account

Under the PDPL you may ask to see your personal data, get a copy of it, correct it or have it deleted, and you may withdraw your consent. Email info@angom.com.sa; we reply within 30 days. You may also complain to the Saudi Data & AI Authority (SDAIA).

To delete your account, open the app and go to Account → Delete account, or follow the steps on our Delete account page. If you have an upcoming or active booking, you can delete your account once that booking is completed or cancelled.

Security

Encrypted connections; ID numbers encrypted in our database; documents shown to staff only through short-lived secure links; role-based staff access with two-step sign-in for administrators; and a log of staff actions.

Children

The app is for adults who may rent a car under our Rental terms. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

This website

This website sets no cookies, uses no analytics and has no forms. Like any web server, ours keeps technical request logs (such as IP address, page and time) to keep the site secure.
